Biography

With over seventeen years experience working in different hotels and bars throughout the world, Sean Muldoon has established a very definite reputation as one of the world’s premier cocktail authorities.

Sean was first introduced to the world of cocktails and mixed drinks back in 1998 at the Botanic Inns group. It was fellow colleague Morgan Watson who would later become a major influence for Sean to take the art of bartending and mixed drinks seriously.

Sean left Botanic Inns at the beginning of 2002 to set up his own business venture: ‘The Perfect Drinks Company’. Through this, he offered a one-stop consultancy and event bartending service (the first of its kind in Ireland) and contributed considerably to various establishments of that time receiving major bar awards: Bar Opium - Theme Magazine Award for Best Cocktail List (Ireland and UK) & Zen Restaurant - Theme Magazine Award for Best Restaurant (Ireland and UK), to name but a few.

He arrived in The Merchant Hotel in February 2006 as Bars and Potations Manager and has within that time built The Bar at The Merchant Hotel up to become a truly world class bar.

Awards have arrived thick and fast with The Bar at The Merchant receiving many national awards from the industries most important publications such as Class, Theme and Imbibe. To add to its success The Bar at The Merchant has also gained global recognition with the following awards at Tales of the Cocktail (New Orleans) - World's Best Cocktail Bar, World’s Best Hotel Cocktail Bar, World’s Best Drinks Selection and World’s Best Cocktail List.
